Cllr Pauline McHardy


The Right Worshipful Mayor Pauline McHardy is the current Mayor for Ripon.

At a meeting of the Council on Monday 6th March 2017 Cllr Pauline McHardy was duly elected to serve as Mayor for the 2017/18 civic year.

Cllr McHardy is the fourth female councillor to have been elected to serve as Mayor since the inception of the Council.  This will be her second term as Mayor as she previously undertook the role of Mayor in 2015/16.  She is the only female to be elected to the position of Mayor twice in the long history of Ripon City Council.

Cllr McHardy said that she is delighted to have been entrusted with this prestigious position again and is very much looking forward to working with the community and other organisations within and outside the City who do so much to make Ripon the wonderful place that it is.

Cllr Pauline McHardy was formerly deputy Mayor of Ripon for 3 years and has been a nurse for 39 years. She is married with one daughter and two grandchildren. She has served on Ripon City Council as a councillor for a number of years as well as Harrogate Borough Council. She is a true Riponian having been born in the City. Cllr McHardy is usually found on the Market on Thursday where she is well known by all the traders.  She uses this opportunity to talk to residents about any issues they may have but also speaks to visitors, giving out guides and further information about the City. Cllr McHardy is an advocate of involving the youth in Ripon and has assisted with projects to improve their facilties.
